It pays to prepare yourself for winter driving

Frosty grass, ice-tipped evergreen trees and open roads blanketed in fresh powder — beautiful to see. But to drive in?Difficult and potentially dangerous would be a more apt description.Because winters in this part of the Pacific Northwest are mild in comparison with other parts of the country, Washington State Patrol spokesman Will Finn says drivers often aren't used to the road conditions and don't get practice driving in the snow.

"A lot of times we see drivers getting overconfident with their driving," he said.People with four-wheel drive may think their cars can handle faster speeds on icy or snowy roads; however, these vehicles can't stop any faster.AAA projects 93.3 million Americans traveling during the Christmas and New Years holidays, a 1.6 percent increase from last year. About 90 percent of travelers plan to go by car.

Jennifer Cook, spokeswoman for AAA Washington, says the first step to surviving the winter driving season is to take care of your car. Make sure the battery is healthy, fluid levels aren't low, the lights and windshield wipers are working, and the tires are fully inflated and have enough tread."As the temperatures go down, you're going to lose tire pressure," she said.

13 Travel Resolutions For 2013

With more than 31 years of experience trekking around the globe, I consider myself an experienced traveler, but even veteran travelers fall prey to travel missteps abroad. This year, I resolve to be a better-rounded traveler and soak up every minute of time I spend in each new destination.I resolve to avoid giving money to people I meet as I travel in a misguided effort to help those who are asking (begging) for money. Instead, I resolve to support real outreach to those same people through programs that make a difference yet don't encourage a culture of dependency.

I resolve to look at the people I meet as I travel, no matter how different from myself, as flavors of ice cream. Some of us are plain vanilla, some are fruity strawberry, and some are exotic rum raisin--but we're all still basically ice cream (or people). I resolve to learn a few words in the local language of the places I visit, like please, thank you and it's nice to meet you, as a gesture of respect.I resolve to remember to behave according to how I would like others to perceive Americans.

If I act like an idiot, those who may not have met many other Americans may assume we're all idiots. I resolve to pack lightly; keeping in mind that except for North Korea or maybe Somalia, pretty much everything I need is locally available, in one form or another. The lighter I pack, the easier it'll be for me to get around, and the more room I'll have for souvenirs to bring home. Whenever possible, I resolve to travel with only a carry-on bag if I can get away with it to avoid extra fees and hassle.

More people expected to travel for holidays

An estimated 93.3 million people will travel 50 miles or more from home during the year-end holidays of 2012, an increase of 1.6 percent over last year, according to AAA.The number of Illinois travelers also is expected to rise by 1.3 percent, to an estimated 4.7 million - with a majority traveling by automobile and about 270,000 expected to fly.

"The year-end holiday season remains the least volatile of all travel holidays as Americans will not let economic conditions or high gas prices dictate if they go home for the holidays or kick off the New Year with a vacation," said Beth Mosher, director of public affairs for AAA Chicago. "Primary economic indicators all show modest improvement from last year and AAA is projecting an increase in the number of Americans stuffing their stockings with airline tickets and hotel reservations."

Throughout Illinois and beyond, state, county and city police will be conducting additional roadside safety checks and late-night patrols concentrating on impaired driving, seat belt use, speeding and distracted driving. The Illinois Department of Transportation also will be suspending work in road construction zones to clear as many lanes as possible for travel.

How to Find Affordable Travel Tour Package?

Now-a-days, many websites offer a wide range of deals, including traveling deals. However, if you want to relish your traveling experience forever, choosing a website that specializes in the traveling deals exclusively can be a great idea. This can provide you with the assurance that the website is dedicated towards fulfilling requirements of the tourists.

While selecting a xinjiang travel agency, understanding preferences of your family members is crucial. For example, if you are planning to bring your kids, you should select packages that include visit to the theme park. If you are going on a honeymoon, on the other hand, the package should include a romantic trip or cheese and wine tour. In general, make sure that the package tour reflects your interests, preferences, and personality.

Ideally, climate should be considered an important factor for deciding the silk road tour package. If you hate summer, visiting a primarily summer country and vice-versa can ruin your trip. Therefore, decide accordingly. It is true that package deals from a reputed website offer you value for your money. Still, for the peace of your mind, you should compare the cost of purchasing the deal with the cost of traveling on your own.

Facts about travel insurance

With more than 91 million Americans planning to travel this holiday season, those traveling via plane will be presented with the option to buy travel insurance. The Minnesota Department of Commerce urges travelers to understand what travel insurance is, what it actually covers and what conditions to watch out for.Travel insurance can protect against the loss of non-refundable travel costs such as airfare, hotel and tour expenses. Other types of 17-Day Xinjiang Silk Road Adventure insurance offer limited protection against losses due to medical emergencies, damage to personal property, and even a death.

Finally, most travel insurance plans will include lost baggage.Travel insurance policies are not all the same. If you buy travel insurance, be sure to review the policy, especially the list of covered reasons and exclusions for cancelling your trip.

Before purchasing a travel insurance policy, ask about pre-existing conditions and age limits. Some policies cover pre-existing conditions and some do not. Others will charge a higher premium to cover them.Cruise and tour operators may offer cancellation waivers. Keep in mind that waivers are not insurance policies and are not regulated. Read all of the restrictions before you buy a cancellation waiver.

Be on the alert for travel scams

In a foreign country, "volunteers" may offer to assist you when you're making a transaction or using any automated machine. Be wary of any stranger who offers help too easily, particularly in high tourism areas or transportation hubs, such as Paris' subway and train stations, especially Gare du Nord. If possible, buy tickets in advance or through a window vendor at the station.

In certain parts of Southeast Asia, VirtualTourist members noted, locals may approach tourists, noting that the "palace is closed today because of" (fill in the blank with a religious ceremony, royal function, cleaning, etc). Then they'll steer you into a nearby tuk-tuk (or xinjiang travel agency), offering to take you to a gem factory or another tourist attraction. Sometimes these not-so-do-gooders might even have on a uniform. The palace/site/wat is probably not closed today, so before you turn around and embark on a tuk-tuk ride to commissioned jewelry stores and tailors, check for yourself.

There are numerous member reports of this at various places in Bangkok, Thailand, including the Grand Palace and Wat Po.The math genius is often a waiter or taxi driver, which helps (him, not you) since he's already provided you with a service for which you need to pay. Here's how it works in a taxi: xinjiang travel agenc, You owe the driver 15 euros, and you pay with a 20 euro bill (about $25). He switches out the bill you gave him for a 5 euro bill, which looks similar. He holds it up and argues that you owe him 10 more euros. You apologize and give him the 10 euros, and only after exiting the car do you realize you essentially paid twice the taxi fare.

Travel infuses Cleveland couple

The couple first fell in love with travel while attending graduate school in Switzerland in 1953 and have since visited 125 countries on the map.Hubbell, who served as the senior pastor at Cleveland's First Baptist Church from 1962-1980, began taking his wife around the world thanks to his background in psychology and counseling."Through the International Mission Board, I was sent to provide professional help to the missionaries located in different countries," said Hubbell. "We've had so many amazing experiences living on five of the seven continents because of my assignments."

The Hubbells lived this exciting lifestyle for about 10 years before settling back in Cleveland — but the globetrotting never ends."Since 2002 onward we have been tackling our travel bucket list," he said. "We've had a long list of countries and places to visit for a while now."Their most recent journey was one of their fondest — a two-week excursion in early November through the Hudson Bay arctic region of Canada."We were moving along real slow in our tundra-mobile and this giant polar bear came right up and stuck his head through the open window," he said. "I will never forget it."

One of Hubbell's favorite travel elements is developing a special connection with local wildlife; from close encounters with artic polar bears, walking among gorillas in Rwanda, sighting giant sea turtles in the Galapagos Islands, seeing a pride of lions in Africa or being chased by a family of baboons. With all the incredible voyages, the Hubbells remain proud of their Bolivar County ties and enjoy sharing their stories with locals.

Tour bookings to China from Japan plunge 70%

The number of passengers who planned to visit China from Japan on tours in the three months from October nosedived more than 70 percent compared to last year, according to a survey by the Japan Association of Travel Agencies. The drop indicates the severe impact of the ongoing row between Japan and China over the Senkaku Islands on the travel industry. For the survey, released Wednesday, JATA interviewed seven major domestic travel agencies, including JTB Corp. and Kinki Nippon Tourist Co., and asked them about their bookings for package tours for October to December compared with the same period the previous year.

Reservations for tours to China dropped by 72.5 percent in October, 75.8 percent in November and 71.5 percent in December. The actual number of passengers who went on tours to China in September fell by 44.5 percent due to cancellations. After a Chinese trawler collided with Japan Coast Guard patrol vessels off the Senkaku Islands in September 2010, the figures sank by 54.8 percent in November and 65.3 percent in December. However, a Japan Tourism Agency official said the repercussions of the Senkaku Islands row are more severe and widespread.

There was also a fall in the number of people booking trips to South Korea due to the territorial dispute over the Takeshima islands, with the drop ranging from 46 percent to 66 percent in the three-month period. Another factor behind the decline was that it became difficult to reserve hotels in Seoul because many Chinese travelers went to South Korea instead of Japan.

October-December tour bookings to China, South Korea down by half

Reservations as of late September for package tours to China and South Korea during the October-December period have plunged to less than half of year-earlier levels against the backdrop of deteriorating relations over territorial issues, four major travel agencies said."Tourism demand will likely remain stagnant for a long while," said a senior official of a major travel agency about tours to China, given demonstrations in the country, where Japanese shops and manufacturing facilities have been attacked, and Japanese nationals assaulted.

The agencies said they are planning to shift resources to tours to Hawaii and Southeast Asia.At JTB, the largest of the four, bookings for China tours dropped 51 percent. "Cancellations have slowed down, compared with mid-September, when anti-Japan demonstrations spread (in China), but new reservations are sluggish, as a wait-and-see attitude still prevails," a JTB official said.Bookings for China tours fell 64 percent at KNT, 56 percent at Nippon Travel and 48 percent at Jalpak.

For South Korean destinations, reservations have dropped 64 percent at KNT and 56 percent at Jalpak, and have fallen by half at JTB and by 39 percent at Nippon Travel.Compared with China, however, tensions over Japan's territorial dispute with South Korea have eased somewhat. Discover the beaches in Vietnam before everyone else does

What do you mean just walk out into the traffic?' I ask  a trader at Ho Chi Minh's Ben Thanh Market who's just stung me for an obligatory hooky Rolex.Apparently it's the only way to cross the road in a city with a population of 10million – 6.5million of whom ride mopeds.I witness one elderly woman navigate her way across four lanes of  traffic while carrying six live chickens, narrowly avoiding a motorcyclist hauling four pigs. There's a joke in there somewhere.

Instead, I take a Vespa tour of the city previously known as Saigon. It's the best way to see this insane warren of bars, barbers and butchers, and  is also a very typical Vietnam experience. But that could change soon. Since relaxing state control in the 1990s, tourism has been central and now Vietnam wants more from foreign trade: it's working on promoting itself as a holiday destination, like neighbouring Thailand, a step up from its current status as a backpacker stop-off.

Beaches hold the key to this goal, and with more than 3,400km of coastline – 200km more than Thailand – and a winter sun season that lasts from around October to April, it could easily become a reality. Each destination offers a wildly  different experience. Da Nang, in the north, has 30km of coastline collectively known as China Beach to choose from. US troops were stationed here during the Vietnam war and, as a result, it offers plenty of bars and restaurants.

Travel industry watchers called it 'The Prince Harry Effect', after Las Vegas bookings went through the roof in the days following Harry's royal romp in Sin City. China mulls tourism law to eradicate six loopholes

Phenomenon: "Zero- or negative-fare tours" refer to tourism products sold by travel agencies at or below cost in order to lure tourists. Accommodations and transportation expenses at travel destinations are actually covered by the profits travel agencies make from persuading or even forcing tourists to buy particular goods and participate in various activities at their own expense.

Case: Twelve tourists from Nanjing embarked on a five-day package tour to Hong Kong and Macao on July 18, 2010. During their short stay in Zhuhai after the main part of the package tour was finished, a local tourist guide changed their travel destination in the city from a department store to a jewelry store without prior notice, and tried to persuade them to buy cigarettes and jewelry there. The tourists refused and entered an hour-long bitter quarrel with the guide, who even threatened to kick all tourists off the bus.

Draft tourism law: Travel agencies shall not attract, organize, or receive tourists below cost. Package tours shall not involve designated shopping places or forced and semi-forced purchasing. Travel agencies shall not arrange any tourism activity that charges additional fees, and shall clearly state the prices for tour guide services in package tour contracts. A package tour contract must include an itinerary, detailed schedule for planned activities, free time, travel expenses, and payment methods.

Draft law 'to ensure tourists get a better deal'

A draft law on tourism, targeting sharp practices by travel agents and clearly stating the rights of travelers, was under review by lawmakers on Monday. The draft, if passed, will be the first legislation covering the industry."There is an urgent need for this law to promote the healthy and sustainable development of tourism," silk road tour package, deputy director of the financial and economic affairs committee of the National People's Congress, said on Monday.

The congress is China's top legislature. The draft law sets operating standards for travel businesses and scenic areas, and prohibits travel agencies from forcing tourists to purchase goods.Tipping will be at the discretion of the tourist, it states. The draft targets agencies offering so-called free tours, or even incentive tours, where the traveler is given a small amount of cash or a gift.

These tours operate on a kickback system. Tourists are taken to shops at pre-determined sites where goods are often sold at inflated prices, and the agency gets a kickback.xinjiang travel agency said tourism faced "relatively severe" challenges.Experts and industry insiders believed that the draft law tackles the key issues."A motion for legislation was raised more than three decades ago, but the process was slow, partly because the tourism industry is supervised by more than 100 government organizations — and administrated by both central and local authorities," said Dai Bin, president of China Tourism Academy.

New visa rules may trip up tourists, business travelers

If you're planning a trip to China and don't have an up-to-date visa in hand, you may encounter some additional red tape.10-Day Eastern Xinjiang Photography Tour , the Chinese government started requiring that travelers seeking tourist visas, officially known as L visas, submit a letter of invitation and photocopies of the traveler's round-trip ticket and hotel reservations.

To obtain a business, or F Visa, applicants must now have an invitation letter or "confirmation letter of invitation" issued by an authorized Chinese agency. This is in addition to an invitation letter issued by a Chinese local government, company, corporation or institution. For tourists, the invitation letter can come from a "duly authorized tourism unit" or it can be issued by a company, corporation, institution or individual in 13-Day Northern Xinjiang Photography Tour. If the letter comes from an individual, a photocopy of her or his identification must also be provided.

The new, more complicated rules, unfortunately, don't completely spell out what is considered a "duly authorized tourism unit" or what constitutes a "letter of invitation." Consulate officials did not respond to our request for additional clarification. The new requirements have thrown many travelers for a loop, especially those who filled out the four-page visa application form in July but whose documents didn't reach the consulate until August. The result has been confusion, communication challenges and, in some cases, a scramble to meet deadlines and travel itineraries.

Researchers from Xinjiang University Describe Findings in Oxides

By a News Reporter-Staff News Editor at Life Science Weekly -- Researchers detail new data in Oxides. According to news reporting originating in Urumqi, People's Republic of China, by NewsRx journalists, research stated, "The temperature-sensitive Cu(II) ion imprinted polymer (Cu(II)-MIIP) materials were prepared via precipitation polymerization methods in supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2) by using methanol as cosolvent.

In the polymerization process, the polymerization mixture consists of copper ion, N-isopropylacrylamide (functional monomer), ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (crosslinker), and 2,2'-azobisisobutyronitrile (initiator)."The news reporters obtained a quote from the research from Xinjiang University, "Non-imprinted polymer particles were similarly prepared in the same way except for the presence of copper ion in the polymerization reaction. In this study, the characteristic of swelling/shrinking for Cu(II)-MIIP in response to the change in temperature was investigated by scanning electron microscopy and photograph of swelling/shrinking for Cu(II)-MIIP in deionized water.

The above-synthesized polymer particles were characterized by using Fourier transform infrared, thermo-gravimetric analysis, and X-ray diffraction techniques. Furthermore, the complete removal of the copper metal ion from the CuP was confirmed by atomic absorption spectroscopy."According to the news reporters, the researchers concluded: "The selectivity adsorption of polymer materials was investigated from dilute aqueous solutions, and it was found to have an imprinting efficiency of 2.13 for Zn and Co ions."

Mastering The Art Of Solo Travel

It was my senior year of college. My friends and I would soon be giving up math classes and research papers for 9-to-5 jobs and business suits. I knew that before that happened, I wanted to do something memorable; see the world for an extended period of time before entering a world of one-week-per-year vacations.By January, I was down to only two girls who still wanted to go, and come the end of March, I was completely on my own. Inside, I panicked. Do I give up a trip I had been mentally planning for over a year? Or, do I go solo and open myself up to new adventures?

I had always heard Europe was a fun destination, as well as easy to navigate thanks to their efficient train system. Living with five other girls, I proposed the idea in October,Xinjiang travel many months before May graduation, so we would have time to prepare. Everyone excitedly said "yes," shouting out all the cities they wanted to include on the itinerary.

With shaky fingers, I pulled up the Delta website on my laptop, typing in a flight itinerary that would have me flying into Dublin and out of Athens. Without thinking I grabbed my credit card out of my purse, as if a force stronger than myself was moving me.China self driving Tours I chose the cheapest flight, entered in my personal details and clicked "pay now." Oddly, my nervousness vanished completely, and I was left with a sense of pure excitement. I was spending the summer in Europe, solo.

La belle France served on a platter

A holiday on a shoestring budget 20 years ago sowed the seeds for a lucrative business. The late French president Charles de Gaulle is said to have once asked about his nation: "How can you possibly govern a country that has 246 kinds of cheese?"Where some people see problems, others see only opportunities, and Alain Hong is one of the latter when it comes to France. For him the country is much more than a gigantic cheese platter, and l'Hexagone, as the French popularly call metropolitan France, is a gem that has many more than five facets.

The Beijing travel agent sees the country as a smorgasbord of attractions for tourists and is on a mission to serve them up to Chinese according to their tastes.Listening to him enthuse about shopping at Printemps department store in Paris, spending a week in a farmhouse in Bordeaux, wandering through an ancient castle elsewhere or lapping up the sights of Monaco on a luxurious yacht, it is clear he has first-hand knowledge of the country.

"Paris is the most interesting city, with stories in every cafe, every bookshop and on every street corner. Provence is filled with ethnic flavor, and the beauty of the lavender fields is beyond your wildest dreams."Hong's love affair with France began nearly 20 years ago when he spent four months there. He went there alone, something almost unheard of in those days for Chinese traveling to Europe.

Outsourcing Losing Its Allure As China Costs Soar

Frustrated by expensive and slow shipping and wanting more control over the manufacturing process, the 15-year-old company started building factories in Simi Valley, California, and Crystal Lake, Illinois."When we do the numbers we're actually ahead manufacturing here instead of paying for air freight and dealing with the logistical issues that we're having in China," said Raymond Sjolseth, the company's president and co-founder.

With just $11 million in revenue last year, xinjiang travel agenc is a tiny company, but it is one of many manufacturers of all sizes - from Master Lock (FBHS.N) to blue-chips General Electric Co (GE.N) and Caterpillar Inc (CAT.N) - that are expanding production in the United States. After decades roaming the world in search of lower costs, U.S. manufacturers are finding that factories at home can compete with China, India, Mexico and other low-cost countries.

To be sure, labor-intensive industries like clothing and electronics, which are heavily dependent on hand assembly, are seen as unlikely to come back to the United States in a major way.xinjiang travel agency And the trickle of returning jobs is far from a flood. But higher transportation costs and wage inflation in China could drive more production back to the United States. As manufacturers have learned to run factories with fewer workers - whose jobs consist of keeping high-cost, high-speed machines running smoothly, rather than assembling goods by hand - they have found that wages are a less critical issue in choosing a factory site.

Operator penalised for tour delay

A trip to Bangkok to attend the Lions International Convention turned out to be a nightmare for 72-year-old Koshy Philips and 10 others. They were supposed to go on an 11 day package tour to China and to Bangkok but landed in Bangkok three days after the convention. The Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum, Ernakulam, has asked Intersight Toursand Travels to pay Rs15,000 each to all the complainants and a cost of Rs1,000. The State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission has also upheld the order of the forum and dismissed the appeal of the tour operator.

Philips said he is happy that the court has found out that there was a deficiency in service. He said, “I feel that even the compensation provided is little compared to the mental agony and stress that we had to undergo in another country.’’Philips, a resident of Chengannur, said, “We were supposed to attend the convention in Bang-kok on June 24 and 25, 2008. There were 31 delegates and we approached the tour operator and paid Rs52,000 per head.”

The departure from Kochi to Beijing was scheduled for June 17 and arrival in Bangkok on 22. On June 16 the group was informed that there was an earthquake warning in China and it was not possible to go. The tour operator assured them that the trip could be worked in such a way that they would go to Bangkok directly. Only 11 persons were ready to take this alternate package.

Tuniu a winning package

The giants of China's online travel agencies, eLong and Ctrip, have a new challenger in the battle to profit from the country's fast-growing travel business. Tuniu, founded in late 2006, has found a winning niche by already becoming the leading online package and group tour company in China.

Tuniu tripled gross revenue last year and forecasts a further doubling of sales this year, according to chief executive (Donald) Yu Dunde told Asia Times Online. The Nanjing-based company, whose chief operating officer Yan Haifeng is a co-founder, took in revenues of 1.2 billion yuan (US$188 million) in 2011, providing packaged tours, group travel, do-it-yourself tours, and combined air ticket and hotel booking packages. The company covers Chinese domestic and international travel.

"Compared with others in the industry, we concentrate on package and group tours. Some competitors offer package tours, but the bigger ones mostly focus on booking hotels and air tickets. Meanwhile, eLong does not offer package tours at all, instead focusing on hotels and airfares," said Yu, who previously worked for a blogging site then a parenting site.

How much would the holiday in Tourism Australia new ad cost?

It's a compelling, well-filmed promotion that ticks all the boxes for an overseas tourist looking to sample the luxurious delights of Down Under. However, my first reaction to it probably wasn't what the tourism bods were hoping for.It wasn't "Wow, what a beautiful country" or "I've got to try that" or "I hope that kangaroo nuts that girl".(And it definitely wasn't "I really want to pay for my parents to hold a black tie event in the middle of an expensive Outback resort".)

My initial thought was: "Bloody hell, how much is that gonna cost?"Featuring such exclusive getaways as the Wolgan Valley Resort in NSW, El Questro Wilderness Park in Western Australia and the Southern Ocean Lodge on South Australia's Kangaroo Island, the holiday that Tourism Australia is hoping foreigners will take certainly isn't a cheap one.Aimed predominantly at the emerging Chinese inbound market, the advert is unashamedly courting the luxury traveller. But touching on a hundred grand for a month's holiday? Just how many millionaires are there in China…?

Not everyone in Australia is a fan of the ad. With the inbound youth market continuing to shrink, there's not much there to attract travellers on a more limited budget and at this month's Australian Tourism Exchange trade show in Perth, there were more than a few people grumbling that the ad was too exclusive. Then again, maybe they - and I - are just griping because we can't afford to experience all the wonderful things the filthy rich can. I'm sure there are some people out there who wouldn't give a moment's thought to dropping a year's wages on a holiday.

Innovative New Homestay In China Extension

China Journeys are well known for their innovative holiday packages. The latest product to emerge from this UK tour operator is equally creative, being an extension from Beijing with 2 nights in a homestay near Jinan in rural Shandong Province.Hotel-airfare winter tour of Beijing starts at $899 each. This adds another dimension to a visit to China, complementing the more usual round of sites and activities.

The package begins with a fast train from the capital to Jinan, the provincial capital of Shandong. A private transfer then takes the guest(s) out into the countryside to one of a number of homestays within the local initiative.Once settled in their temporary new home guests are free to explore the local area. Their hosts may offer other activities intended to support the main purpose which is to experience the real China at first hand.

These may include a visit to the local market or perhaps even a bit of helping out in the fields."Having been on a number of homestays in China in my time I know that one of the biggest issues is communication. We generally only ever had one guide per group and so few ever got to ask their hosts the questions that they really wanted"With one Buddy for each homestay the language barrier becomes significantly less of an issue.

Hotel-airfare winter tour of Beijing starts at $899 each

It's cold in Beijing in winter, but it's also the cheapest time to visit the Chinese capital. China Spree each year between November and March offers air-hotel packages from San Francisco and Los Angeles that start at $899 a person.

The deal: I have written about the Timeless Beijing trip before, and now the 2012-13 dates are scheduled. The $899-a-person price is based on double occupancy and includes round-trip airfare on Air China. It also includes six nights in a four-star hotel, airport and hotel transfers, three-day escorted tours, nine meals (mostly breakfasts) and free time too.

Tested: I found availability for this trip on Nov. 18 and Nov. 21 departures (this could work if you want to spend Thanksgiving in China). Note that the prices cited are cash prices, which means you pay a $200 deposit and then pay the rest by check or money order; add $50 for credit card purchases. Also add $170 per person for a single entry visa to China.

New KTO office in Manila leads destination marketing efforts

THE KOREA Tourism Organisation (KTO) has established a Manila office, which will seek to grow Filipino arrivals through unique tour packages and the promotion of medical, MICE and winter tourism.Sangyong Zhu, director of KTO Manila, told TTG Asia e-Daily that the Korean Wave – commonly known as Hallyu – had gained popularity in the Philippines, driving up travel demand for South Korea.L.A.-Las Vegas bus-hotel package costs $99 each, third person free.

Arrivals from the Philippines have been growing annually at an average of 6.4 per cent. More than 337,000 Filipinos visited South Korea last year, making the Philippines the fifth largest inbound market for South Korea, after Japan, China, the US and Taiwan. The office has started discussions with local outbound tour operators to develop itineraries that will include "essentials" such as royal palaces, amusement parks, film locations for TV shows, folk villages, UNESCO heritage sites and shopping opportunities.

The destination, which has been successful in reaching out to medical tourism markets such as Russia, Kazakhstan, China, Japan, Vietnam, Cambodia and the Middle East, will also promote skin care and plastic surgery to middle- and high-income females in the Philippines.Leveraging on South Korea's snowy winter season which does not exist in the Philippines, KTO Manila will also feature ski resorts and skiing opportunities in its destination promotions.“Ski resorts in South Korea are very competitive, with quality facilities and reasonable rates compared to other countries," Zhu said.

L.A.-Las Vegas bus-hotel package costs $99 each, third person free

Here's a way to beat the high price of gas on your next road trip to Las Vegas: Take a bus, specifically a bus-hotel package. The deal: Two people pay $99 each and score the free third spot. You all have to stay in the same hotel room, but it's an inexpensive way to go -- particularly with all the sightseeing stops included (provided you like to pack a lot into your vacation days).

The rate includes round-trip bus transportation (yes, it's air-conditioned), two nights at the Stratosphere Casino, Hotel and Tower, a tour of the south rim of the Grand Canyon and a stop at the Ethel M chocolate factory and the Botanical Cactus Gardens on the way home. When: Tours depart  Mondays, Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 14 locations in Southern California.

Tested: I found the deal available in June for $99 each on Sunday, Monday and Wednesday departures. I tested the June 16 departure (Father's Day weekend) for the slightly higher rate of $119 per person plus tax. I also chose to leave from a stop in Chinatown in downtown Los Angeles (you select your departure location when you book).Total cost for three people sharing a room with tax and fees: $238, or about $80 per person. Note you can stay in Vegas and skip the Grand Canyon tour.

Human remains sent to schools in Canada

What appeared to be a human hand and foot were sent separately to two area schools, Vancouver police said Tuesday. The first package, containing what was thought to be a hand, was delivered to False Creek Elementary School, while the second, containing what appeared to be a foot, was found by staff at St. George's School, they said.It was not immediately clear whether the gruesome discoveries are connected to the case of Luka Rocco Magnotta, the Canadian porn actor accused of killing and dismembering a man and mailing body parts to politicians.

"The investigation is only a few hours old now, so I can't link it to anything," Vancouver Police Deputy Chief Warren Lemcke told reporters.Magnotta will not fight extradition after his arrest in Germany, a Berlin police official said Tuesday. The 29-year-old told a Berlin magistrate that he will return voluntarily to face charges in the death of university student Jun Lin, Chief Supt. Stefan Redlich of the Berlin police said.Phuket's China Tourism Booming With 'Huge Numbers' Coming.

Magnotta faces first-degree murder and other charges in last month's killing of Lin, a 33-year-old Concordia University student from China.Authorities accuse Magnotta of dismembering Lin and mailing one of his hands and one of his feet to Canadian politicians. Lin's head and other hand and foot are still missing, Cmdr. Ian Lafreniere, a Montreal police spokesman, said Tuesday.Police also believe Magnotta filmed the death and dismemberment and posted it to the Internet. Authorities have said the video shows Magnotta engaged in sexual acts involving body parts. On Tuesday, Lafreniere told reporters the video also included evidence of cannibalism.

Phuket's China Tourism Booming With 'Huge Numbers' Coming

"Huge numbers" of Chinese are expected on Phuket with arrivals this year already surpassing last year's record number, says the Tourism Authority of Thailand.Six daily flights from China have deposited 400,000 Chinese visitors on Phuket so far in 2012, topping the 343,125 who came in 2011, TAT Assistant Director Wanaphapar Suksombul told a Phuket meeting yesterday. But fierce competition meant that safety standards were being undermined and Chinese tour companies often ripped off their own customers, the meeting heard at Provincial Hall in Phuket City.

Khun Wanaphapar emphasised the positive of the boom in travel from China to Phuket, making the point that the 400,000 visitors this year was a dramatic increase on the 80,000 who came four years ago."Huge numbers are coming now," she said. "From Asia China is number one, foll.owed by Malaysia and Korea."The traditional independent traveller markets of Europe, Scandinavia and Australia are making way, but at a cost to safety and security.Chinese tour operators were known to sell packages to travellers then cut or change the items in tours in the package to take a bigger profit for themselves.

The President of the Phuket Professional Guides Association, Panomphol "Pete" Thummachartniyom, said that Phuket's guides spoke excellent Chinese because family members came from there to Phuket. But the Chinese tour companies brought their own guides, he said."The Chinese tour companies bring Chinese guides and it's the Chinese tour companies who make trouble for Chinese tourists," he said. "But because these problesm occur on Phuket, it's Phuket's reputation that suffers."

Baucus starts dignitary tour at Bozeman business

Fishing waders might be an apt prop for a congressman wading muddy political waters. But on Tuesday, Sen. Max Baucus used waders to demonstrate the kind of business he wants to attract to Montana. The senator spent much of the day meeting employees and learning the various tasks carried out at Bozeman manufacturer Simms Fishing Products, a Montana-owned company.Simms is the kind of company Baucus wants to promote to foreign dignitaries on his upcoming Ambassadors’ Tour as an example of the quality and workmanship they can find in Montana.

Unique Vacation Ideas for your China Travel Holidays. It’s also an example of the global chain that Baucus would like to link into. Simms imports its raw material, Gore-Tex, from Japan and then exports a variety of recreational gear worldwide.Baucus watched it all come together as he helped employees build and package high-end waders for the growing recreation market.Surrounded by the hiss of Gore-Tex taping machines and the smell of synthetic material, Baucus carefully folded a $500 pair of waders and placed them in a display box, adding the crowning touch of a U.S. flag sticker indicating it was made in America.

Then he went to observe the quality control area, where he watched workers reject a pair of waders for a tiny flaw.“I’m very impressed with the dedication and quality here,” Baucus said. “The quality is world-renowned. Montanans have a great work ethic, and this is the perfect Montana company to show that.”Later, Baucus presented the company with his Montana Jobs Economic Engine distinction, which he uses to recognize businesses that attract investors and business to Montana. Wheat Montana and several breweries have been past recipients.

Umbrellas are generally weak and poor support against the strong wind.Revealing clothing should be avoided as Chinese people are rather conservative. So its desirable to respect their rules and dress accordingly.Chinese temples do not allow women wearing skirts to enter. So pants should not be forgotten.Clothes are not to be worried about when touring China. It is the cheapest here. They also make good souvenirs. It is better to keep the luggage light when coming and buy things on trip.

The Chinese People are known to be very strict about Christianity, and Catechism.
